ADAS VALIDATION RESEARCH ENGINEER
The Université Gustave Eiffel is involved in a wide range of research areas (mobility, infrastructure, transport, etc.) and is also involved in expert appraisal and standardisation activities. Numerous applied research topics in the field of transport currently deal with the validation of on-board perception systems in private vehicles. A major effort is being devoted in particular to the validation of driver assistance systems (ADAS) in degraded climatic conditions. As part of a project combining industry and academic platforms, the IMSE and PICS-L laboratories are recruiting a Research Engineer to develop physical simulation resources based on the Sense-City experimental platform. This position represents a valuable opportunity for a person motivated by societal issues, in particular those relating to the automation of transport and the impact of climate change. Missions principales
Main tasks:
- Review the state of the art in :
o Perception systems in autonomous vehicles
o Climatic disturbances that can impact their performance (rain, fog, sun, ice, etc.)
o Means of physical simulation and characterization of these critical climatic phenomena.
- Carry out a benchmarking of existing experimental resources for reproducing critical climatic phenomena for perception systems for autonomous vehicles.
- Drawing up specifications for equipment and adaptations using the Sense-city platform to carry out controlled physical simulations of these critical phenomena as part of the Weathersafe project coordinated by UTAC.
- Steering the implementation of the adaptations and purchases defined in consultation with the Weathersafe project experts.
- Defining a robust validation methodology for prototype perception systems (camera, lidar, etc.) in conjunction with the Weathersafe project and based on the Sense-City platform.
